Recommendation for Moving a Heavy Boat Trailer Short Distances on a Driveway
Question:
I am considering buying a boat and trailer that totally weighs about 5000 lbs, the trailer has wheels on it. My question is when I back this boat on my driveway I have to back in on an angle, unhook the truck then use one of these carts to push the tongue over about 5 feet to get the trailer running parallel with the driveway. The big question is with four wheels on the ground will this cart give me enough advantage to move the trailer over. With my smaller boat I just push the tongue of the trailer over on the front trailer jack that has a wheel on it.

The Rackem trailer dolly, # RA20, would work well as long as the tongue weight of the trailer is something you would normally be able to handle by hand without the use of anything. If not then even though the dolly will make it easier, it may not be the best solution.
What I recommend is the Trailer valet, # STC-V211. It kind of works like a winch. Cranking the handle moves the trailer much easier than doing it by hand or using a dolly. I have included a link to a video that shows how it works.
