Fit of Hollywood Racks # HR1450Z on 2012 Subaru Outback

Question:

I have a 2012 Subaru Outback wagon with a Hidden Hitch 87568. Will the Hollywood SE2 HR1450Z work? Will I still be able to access the back lift gate with the rack tilted loaded with bikes?

When we installed the Hidden Hitch # 87568 on a 2012 Outback Wagon, we found that the distance from the hitch pin hole to the furthest rearward edge of the back bumper is about 5-3/4 inches.

When installed in that receiver on your vehicle, the closest portion of the rack would be 8-1/2 inches rearward of the hitch pin hole, which means that you will indeed have plenty of clearance for the rack to fold once it is installed.

Once the bikes are placed on the rack, the closest portion of the bike frame (not including handlebars) will be about 17 inches rearward of the hitch pin hole. Once the rack is tilted downward, this distance will be even greater, so the hatch on your Outback should clear just fine, unless the closest bike has abnormally wide handlebars.
