Hollywood RV Rider Bike Rack on a 2018 Subaru Outback Wagon
Question:
We ordered a Hollywood RV ride her bike rack from your company this summer. We intend to use it on our fifth wheel. We want to know if we put a hitch on our 2018 Subaru outback touring if the rack will work on that vehicle also or is it to long and low. We are concerned with the rack scraping Thank you

The Hollywood RV Rider Rack, part # HLY64FR, will work well with a hitch mounted on your 2018 Subaru Outback Wagon.
The RV Rider has a distance of 12" when folded down from the center of the hitch pin to the closest part of the bike rack, but the anti-rattle hitch pin and the hitch tightener will reduce the amount of sway that would normally come with a bike rack that far back.
Of course, this rack is heavy at 58 pounds. With 2 Ebikes on it, that will increase the weight significantly. You will need a strong hitch to hold it up.
Luckily, Curt offers two hitches for your Outback that can definitely handle that weight.
The first is the concealed cross tube option, part # C13410. This one has a cross tube that is completely hidden, with only the receiver showing. That makes it a bit harder to install, though. It is a Class III hitch with a maximum tongue weight of 600 pounds (more than enough for your fully-loaded bike rack). I've linked to a video installation for you to look at.
The second is an exposed cross tube, part # C13206. This option has an easier installation, but the entire cross tube will be visible. Like the other, this is a Class III hitch with a maximum tongue weight of 600 pounds. I've linked to a video installation of this hitch on a 2017 Outback to compare.
As for the rack sitting too low, that won't be a problem. Since the RV Rider goes straight out, the height from the ground will be determined by your hitch's height. That, coupled with the rise built into the rack, means it will never sit below your hitch's height. Both of these hitch's sit above the ground about 15-1/2", so the rack will be that high off of the ground as well.
