Longer Shank Needed for Husky Weight Distribution System

Question:

I now have a 2020 Ford Expedition and according to the measurements I made with the help of your videos, I need a 5 inch shank. Questions: What is the best length to use? How far out should it be from the rear bumper? This item appears to give me quite a bit of flexibility because I am also considering trading trailer soon so I might need to do this again. Thank you

There are sometimes special circumstances where folks will need a longer weight distribution shank, typically because the receiver hitch on the tow vehicle is recessed under the vehicle further than usual.

The 10-1/4 inch length of the Reese # RP54970 weight distribution shank you'd looked at is pretty much standard, although longer ones are available. For a longer length, I'd recommend the # RP3214 from Reese which has a 14 inch long shank. The adjustment hole spacing is standard at 1-1/4 inches on center, so you don't specifically need to go with a Husky shank, just because you have a Husky weight distribution system.
