Spring Bars of Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution Wear Where They Meet Weight Distribution Head

Question:

I recently purchase a Reese RP66559 hitch and installed following the instructions. After a drive of about 30 miles I found the head unit rubbing against spring bars is this normal or is there another adjust I need to do?

According to Reese, the wear you've shown is normal. After initial usage, the powder coat in that area will be rubbed off as you show in your photo. Reese recommends using a spray lubricant like WD-40 on the top and bottom surfaces of the spring bars where they insert into the weight distribution head. This should be done before each use. I've linked to a product demonstration video for the Reese Steadi-Flex weight distribution system.
