Best Suspension Enhancement for 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 Towing Trailer

Question:

Hello, My family and I just started FTRVing and will be for the next 9 months. I bought this truck under the assumption it was set up for the 13,400 max towing option, but alas, it does not. The dealership sales guy wasnt as informed as I thought and I unfortunately put my trust in that. Its sort of OK, but my maximums are a little closer than I wouldve hoped. Bottom line, I have a half-ton towable TT that weighs in around 7200lbs with all our gear. I bought Timbrens to aid in the squat, and it still squats a little but not that bad. However, the ride quality is literally making some of us sick on rougher roads. Wondering if there is any advice or upgrades that would be a little more forgiving. I understand that I could even keep the Timbrens installed if I added RAS or add-a-leaf type upgrades. What would you recommend? What have you seen work for a little smoother ride? Would it make more sense to remove the Timbrens and ebay them or keep them?

Expert Reply:

Timbrens on half ton trucks are notoriously harsh unfortunately. I would recommend replacing them with a RAS system like the part # RAS54FR to give you the support you are wanting for the suspension of your 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 without making the ride quality harsh.
