The circuit you will need to tap into for the Hopkins Backup Sensor System # HM60100VA to work correctly would be the reverse light circuit. This way the sensor is only active when you are in reverse.

If you were to install a # HM60100VA on the front license plate of your vehicle it would require that you power it with a 12 volt power source. The easiest way to do this would be to run power from the battery to a switch then to the # HM60100VA. This will require you to flip a switch every time you want the alerts to be active.
