Recommended Trunk Mounted Bike Carrier for 2016 Land Rover LR4
Question:
I have a Land Rover LR4 that has a 2 part rear hatch. The trunk mounted racks seem to indicate that the lower supports should be mounted on the lower bumper, which would prevent me opening the rear without removing the rack! Do you have any suggestions for racks that would allow rear opening with the rack in place? I have a single bike - please help!

There is a trunk mounted bike carrier from one manufacturers that will allow you to open the rear hatch with the rack installed, but not with a bike loaded. The manufacturer is SeaSucker and they use vacuum mounted cups to hold the carrier and bike to your vehicle. These vacuum cups are rated for a pull strength of 210 lbs each so it will easily hold your bike at highway speeds or simply getting your bike to the riding trail.
You can use the SeaSucker Komodo Trunk Bike Rack - Fork Mount - Vacuum Cup Mounted - Black # 298-BK1910-BK which is available in a few colors. If you don't want to remove a wheel, then you can use the Sea Sucker Hornet Rear Window Bike Rack - Handlebar Mount - Vacuum Cup Mounted # 298-BH1302 which then uses your bike seat for a support point which can create more bike movement but you'll still have safety and security in transporting your bike.
