How to Add 7 Way Plug for 2016 Honda Pilot

Question:

Im installing a 7-pin connector on my 2016 Honda Pilot to tow a travel trailer. It did not come with a factory towing set up, so i had already installed a curt trailer hitch and the curt plug in 4-pin connector. I purchased the curt dual output 4-pin to 7-pin adapter, part number 57672 as well as the tekonsha 90160 primus IQ brake controller and adapter for the 2016 Honda Pilot 3070-P. The adapter plugs right in the the cars port under the steering wheel bay. My question is what i need to do with the extra wires on the 7-pin adapter. Is the brake controller go to go now that it is plugged in to the car? Do i need to run connections from the car for the others blue, yellow, black? How do i finish it out to be good to go? Thanks!

In order to complete the installation of the Curt 4/7 way connector # C57672 you will need to finish connecting the black, blue, white and yellow wires on that connector to give you a working 7 way. The issue here is that you've already got all these wires run for you, and the point of the # 3070-P adapter is that it allows you to tap into the wiring. Without utilizing the factory wiring for your 7 way, which you won't be when installing the Curt # C57672, you will need to hard-wire in the wires below for the following functions. I'm attaching a video of the installation of an # ETBC7 that you can use as a rough guide for this, but the wires will have the following functions. If you're going this direction, you may want to add the Wiring Kit for 2, 4, 6, and 8 Brake Electric Trailer Brake Controllers # 5506 to make wiring easier, but I've got an easier option for you below.

Blue- brake controller wire- connect to blue brake wire inside vehicle on vehicle side of adapter
White- ground wire- connect to paint and debris free spot on vehicle frame
Yellow- Reverse light circuit- tap into at tail lights
Black- 12v power- must run wire to battery

With all of that said, your 2016 Honda Pilot does have a factory plug in that you can use to replace your 4 way connector with a 7 way; this would allow you to use the plug in adapter for the brake controller in the vehicle and avoid all of the hard-wiring you'd need to do otherwise. To go this direction I recommend using the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package - 7-Way Trailer Connector # 118286 because of the reliability of Tekonsha harnesses and the ease of installation this will allow you; this will also use all of the pre-run factory wiring to allow you to use the # 3070-P to install your Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 brake controller, as well.
