Budget-Friendly Bike Rack for 1-1/4 Inch Trailer Hitch & 40 lb Bikes
Question:
Hello! We bought a hitch from you recently but it is only an inch and a quarter. We have two Firmstrong cruiser bikes that weight 40 pounds each. Only one of them has fenders. We cannot afford a Thule rack. Is there a mid range priced rack that would work for us? We have a 2009 Toyota Matrix if that is helpful. Thank you!

We actually have the perfect option for a bike rack that is compatible with your Class I hitch with a 1-1/4" receiver, has the weight capacity you need, will work with a bike that has fenders, and most importantly, is a great value.
The rack I highly recommend for you is the Hollywood Racks Trail Rider 2-Bike Rack # HR200Z.
The Trail Rider will work with bikes up to 45 lbs each, is a frame-mounted rack so fenders won't be a problem, and is less expensive than other platform racks while not sacrificing quality. The rack has a 5 inch rise in the shank to give you added ground clearance, and even comes with integrated locks to secure your bikes to the rack and the rack to your hitch, helping protect your investments.
This is one of my favorite bike racks because it's such a good value for people, and our customers who have it seem to agree. There are hundreds of customer reviews of the Trail Rider, as you can see on the product page, and it is averaging close to 5 stars.
The only thing to keep in mind since you have a beach cruiser is that the Trail Rider is compatible with bikes that have tires up to 3" wide.
I have added a link to a video review for you to check out as well of the Hollywood Racks Trail Rider 2-Bike Rack # HR200Z.
