When Redarc Tow Pro is Set to Zero Is Brake Output At Zero in Both Modes
Question:
Hi. I purchased the Redarc TowPro Elite for a 2013 Tacoma with factory wiring. Ive not had a vehicle that needed a brake controller nor have I ever used one and I was wondering how to use this one. If I tow it will mostly be on roads. My plan is to leave the controller in auto mode. I understand how the proportional braking works but Im confused about the control knob and the gain settings. Does 0 mean that braking is turned off? Do I need to set the gain for every trailer I might tow? Can I set it and just leave it alone? Im unsure as to when I might need to change the gain or when I should change the gain. Basically Im unsure of how/if I need to use the gain settings when in auto mode. Thank you.

Yes, when the Redarc Tow Pro part # RED44FR has it's knob rolled back down to zero when in proportional or time-delayed mode the braking output power would be zero. Every trailer will require a different brake output so yes you would need to set the gain every time so that the braking performance would be optimized for each trailer. If you remember what settings to use with each trailer though you can easily turn the knob to the best setting quickly and easily.
