4-Way to 7-Way Harness Adapter on a 2018 Subaru Forester for Backup LED Lights
Question:
I recently installed an etrailer plug and play wiring harness 4 pin for my subaru forester 2018 and it works great. I am in the process of rewiring and lighting my trailer and I would like to add LED backup floods to the trailer, but the 4 pin connector does not allow for a connection to them. Is there a 4 to 7 pin adapter kit that I can install to deliver power to backup lights on the trailer?

We have exactly what you're looking for! To convert your 4-pole harness on your 2018 Subaru Forester to a 7-pole harness, there are a number of adapters available.
The one I recommend is the Curt Adapter, part # C57674. This adapter has a 4-pin outlet in addition to the 7-way round so you don't have to worry about uninstalling it for use with 4-pin trailers. It also has test lamps to help you determine if all of your functions are working properly. For your reverse lights to work with this, the white wire needs to be grounded and the yellow wire needs to be connected to the reverse light of your vehicle. The blue and black wires will just need to be capped off. I've linked to a video review of this adapter for your consideration.
If you're looking for a more fully functional 7-way adapter (such as using with a brake controller), then I recommend the etrailer Universal Kit, part # ETBC7. This kit includes everything to make all of the necessary connections so every function operates, allowing you to use more functions more easily than the Curt Adapter. I've linked to a video review of this as well.
