Yes, the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller, part # 90885, can definitely be installed on your 2006 Ford F-150. I've included a link on how to install this on a 2004 F-150.
You need a fully functional 7-Way if your vehicle isn't already equipped with one. To get this, there are two options based on if your F-150 has the factory tow package or not. If it does, then you need the 7-Way harness and Brake Controller Kit from etrailer, part # ETBC7. This kit contains both the wires and connector needed to turn that factory 4-way into the 7-way needed for using a brake controller. I've included a link to a video of its installation on a 2013 F-150.
If your vehicle doesn't have the factory tow package, then you will first need to get the Curt 4-Pole Trailer Connector, part # C56031. I've included a link to a review of this connector. After that, you will be able to connect the etrailer kit (ETBC7) I referenced earlier.
