Do Self Adjusting Trailer Brakes Require Initial Adjustment
Question:
Is it necessary to manually adjust these brakes after installation? I purchased two sets from you a while back and the braking power was disappointing.

Self adjusting brake assemblies like the part # AKEBRK-35-SA do not require initial adjustment but you'll need to apply the brakes several times while moving slowly to allow them to self adjust to the correct tension. They will feel pretty weak at first until they reach the correct adjustment. So the easy solution for you would be to take out the trailer and while travelling slowly reach down and grab the manual override lever of the controller several times and you'll feel the brakes start to grab harder and harder.
