Maintaining Compressor and Evaporator Coils on RV Air Conditioners

Question:

I have removed the nylon retaining strap but it appears the evap housing cover must lift up not slide out to be removed. Do I need to remove the metal evap motor stabilizing bracket to remove the cover?

On your Atwood Air Command Rooftop RV Air Conditioner w/ Heat Pump - 15,000 Btu - Ducted - White # AT15028-22 the evaporator cover lifts off almost like it is on a hinge at the bottom. Often the newer models have Styrofoam to also cover this assembly. Be careful not to damage the gasket because that is what seals out dirt and debris. You will not need to remove any stabilizing brackets to remove the cover. It normally is just a few screws.

The compressor coil is normally just covered by the plastic shroud with reinforced grille and to remove that does not require any removing or reinstalling any brackets. I've attached a help article on maintaining your AC to assist.
