Equalizer Upgrade for 5-5/8 Inch Long Equalizers

Question:

I would like to install a Road Armor Shock Absorbing Equalizer Kit - Tandem Axle on my travel trailer. The question is, my current equalizer is 5 5/8” x 1 3/4”w x 2” and with shackles 2 1/4” from center hole to center hole. The Road Armor 6” x 1 3/4”w x 3 1/2” center to center holes and the longest shackle is 3 1/2”. Which makes the Road Armor configuration 3/8” longer and a 1/4” shorter in shackle height. Will the Road Armor with 3 1/2” shackle work on my trailer? Thanks

While we do have a suspension upgrade for your 5-5/8 inch long equalizers, the Road Armor # LC696740 is unlikely to work due to the difference in dimensions. The Road Armor is wider, and the 3-1/2" shackle straps you mentioned have a different hole diameter, so even the longest shackle straps couldn't be used.

The kit that will work perfectly instead is the Dexter E-Z Flex Suspension Kit # K71-652-00.

This is a tandem axle kit that has the exact same dimensions as your equalizers, measuring 5-5/8 inch long and 2 inches tall. It even comes with mounting hardware, including shackle straps that are the same height as yours, 2-1/4 inches, and wet bolts for simple lubrication. These will do a wonderful job of giving you a much more comfortable ride by absorbing road shock and bounce.
