Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch for Turning Clearance 10 Foot Bed

Question:

450 w/ 10foot bed - will the sidewinder give me an extra 12inch in length between the fifth wheel and the back of the truck in order to have enough clearance when I turn?

The Reese Sidewinder 5th Wheel King Pin with Rotating Turret - 20,000 lbs # RP34FR is designed to give you 22 inches difference in pivot point from the king pin to the rotating turret. That offset is designed to increase turning clearances for short bed trucks, but it doesn't increase the distance between the king pin and the mounting bolts of your trailer.

If you don't already have a sliding 5th wheel hitch that is the best way to give you turning clearance. I recommend using the Demco Hijacker Autoslide. The 13K # DM8550040 will give you 22-1/2 inches of travel. The 18K # DM8550034 and the 21K # DM8550035 will give you 14 inches of additional turning clearance.
