Solutions for Difficult to Install Brake Controller Situation with 2018 Chevy Equinox

Question:

Is will garnish molding on 2018 equinox located on passenger bottom counsel side? If so to install brake controller wires red and blue to x203 connector the white connector IAM looking at on my equinox does not match colors in your photo also gm bullentin18-na-123. So is there a spot iam missing where x203 connector is.

Installing a brake controller in a 2018 Chevy Equinox is much more difficult than other vehicles due to accessing the stoplight switch circuit like you mentioned. I attached a picture that shows where to find the circuits typically which I would recommend you verify with a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 but I have a couple other options for you to consider to make the job easier.

First option is a brake controller that doesn't require tapping into this circuit with the Curt Echo part # C51180 which basically just plugs into an active 7-way and once synced to a smart phone is ready to tow without any wiring.

Other options is a Roadmaster Universal Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751000 which easily gives you a stoplight circuit on any vehicle like your for the install of a traditional brake controller like the P3 part # 90195 that you referenced.
