ICX Transmitter Installation On 2013 Fiat 500 With Roadmaster Even Brake Portable Braking System

Question:

My RV came with Roadmaster 9400 Even Brake system and Roadmaster Falcon 5250 tow bar. I have a 2013 Fiat 500 manual flat tow. I have successfully installed base plate BX2800 and wiring Tow Ready Tail Light Isolating Diode System with 4-Pole Connector Item # TR118821, both purchased from eTrailer.com. My Fiat tows with key in off position no wheel lock, in neutral. The brake light does not come on when pedal is depressed and key in off position. I believe therefore I need stop light switch RM-751455. I did not get a brake light relay with my Even Brake, but I read somewhere that since my brake light does not come on when the brake is pressed with key in off position, I do not need one. If that is true, where do I connect the greeninch wire that connects to terminal 1 of the ICX transmitter?

Expert Reply:

For your 2013 Fiat 500, the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit - Fiat # RM-751455 is required as well as the 12 Volt Outlet Kit, 20 amps # RM-9332. The stop light switch lets you know in your motorhome when the brakes of your Fiat are being applied and the green wire connects to the black wire of the switch and then to terminal 1 of the ICX transmitter. The power for the switch comes directly from the vehicle battery thru a fuse so the ignition position is not an issue as it is bypassed.

The brake lights on your Fiat should illuminate when the motorhome brake lights come on if the diode wiring # TR118821 is installed correctly. The tail lights are controlled by the motorhome an not by any power in the Fiat.
