Can a Hopkins Trailer Brake Controller be Wired to Harness # HM47755 by Color on a 2005 Dodge Ram
Question:
I have a Hopkins 47225 brake controller that I originally had hooked up on a Denali. I purchased a Hopkins 47755 plug in for my 2005 Dodge Ram 2500. The 47755 plug has the plug to plug into my truck, but the end that would plug into my brake controller is cut wires. There is a blue, a red, a black and a white wire black on each. Can I just splice them across based on color? I ask because on the Denali harness the red wire is a smaller gauge than the others. On the Dodge harness the white wire marked vehicle brake sense input the lighter gauge wire.

The wires on the brake controller are white for ground, black for 12 volt power, blue for output to the trailer brakes, and red for input from the brake switch. If you are using harness # HM47755 you can wire it to the controller color for color.
