Universal Stoplight Switch for 2011 Chevy Colorado to Install Brake Controller
Question:
I am trying to find my cold brake switch wire to connect to the red wire. The two plugs that both have switches on my brake pedal each have two wires in them. One plug has a black wire and a tan wire, neither of them show constant power when tested. The other plug has a pink wire and a purple wire. One wire is constant at all times and the other wire is constant until I press the brake pedal which then the power shuts off...like it’s backwards. I see others with Colorado’s that have a blue wire but mine does not. Please advise. I have everything hooked up, the flat four and seven way round. The brake controller works when I manually squeeze the controller but need to find the brake switch wire to complete it.

One solution is the universal stoplight switch part # RM-751000 which gives you a dedicated brake switch you can use for the red wire of the brake controller. Or you could go back to the third brake light circuit of your truck. Otherwise there SHOULD be a wire on your brake circuit that has voltage when the brakes are applied.
