What Is Size Mentioned From Hispec When Determining Required Lug Nut Torque

Question:

This info sheet directly from HiSpec recommends lug nuts to be torqued to 90 ft-lbs and higher, depending on lug size.inch Does lug sizeinch mean stud size, or socket size? In this QandA asking for the correct lug nut for HiSpec Series 03 wheels, you recommended a lug nut that is only supposed to be torqued up to 85 ft-lbs?

I checked out the lug nut torque chart you mentioned and the sizes you see are for the diameter of the stud that the lug nut is attached to.

Lug Size Ft/Lbs Torque
1/2" 90-120
9/16" 120-140
5/8" 140-160

We'd have to recommend you stick with at least 90 ft lbs if using a 1/2 inch stud which is the most common size.
