Bike Rack Solutions for 2019 Mazda CX-5

Question:

I will be carrying a Specialized Mt Bike on my 2019 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring Reserve. Do you recommend a Bike Frame Adapter? It’s not a women’s frame, but the Mountain bike does not have a straight bar from the seat to the stem. I was also looking at the Yakima Fullback 2 trunk mounted rack, but the weight puts me off as well as possible damage to headliner of vehicle with the anchored straps at the top of the tailgate. I DO like that a lock is integrated into the Yakima Fullback 2 though. Thank you for your suggestions! P.S. I tried to attach photos of my bike and the back of my car. Let me know if you don’t received both.

The picture of your vehicle did make it through but not your bike. I looked around online for Specialized mountain bike frames and I believe I have a good idea what your frame is and I'd definitely recommend you go the route of using an adapter bar like # UB01.

The contact pad of the Fullback is really wide and designed for taking the weight of the bikes and rack and distributing it well to prevent damage so if the trunk rack is what you are wanting this is the best option. The weight is 21 lbs which is about the average weight for a trunk rack.

If damage is a concern at all though I would highly recommend a hitch solution like the Hollywood Racks # HR200Z with the hitch # 76138 which is a custom fit for your 2019 Mazda CX-5.
