Recommended Heavy Duty Shackle Upgrade for Double Eye Springs and Road Armor Equalizer  

Question:

i have Keystone Cougar Half Ton 29 RLDWE Travel Trailer which uses a 5-3/4inch x2inch equalizer and 2-1/4inch shackle. I am considering upgrading to a Road Armor LC696740 Equalizer. In a previously answered question you mentioned a 2-3/4inch shackle. I would like to upgrade to a 1/2inch thick shackle using the LC696740 Equalizer. Can I use the K71-358-00 kit with the 3-1/8inch shackle with the LC696740 to duplicate as close as possible my current set up? I installed a K71-359-00 kit on my previous Cougar and it performed quite well. Thank you

The Replacement Shackle Link with Bolts for Dexter Trailer Suspension Kits # 018-026-05 are 2-1/4 inch on center. The # K71-358-00 is 3-1/8 inches on center so too big for your system.

The # 018-026-05 along with Shackle Strap # 018-024-01 and Replacement Flange Nut # 006-092-01 will work with your system and that Road Armor Equalizer # LC696740 without issue to give you the stronger shackles and wet bolt combination. The slight difference in length will still allow your system to work properly.
