How To Help Steering Wheel Play and Side to Side Rock on 2020 Thor Vegas
Question:
I have a 2020 Thor Vegas 27.7’ motor home and I’ve had the ft end aligned two times and I still have like 3” of play in the steering wheel , I’ve bought a Safe T steering stabilizer but haven’t put it on yet ! I’m constantly trying to keep the motor home going straight down the road , I’ve heard it called “ wagging the tail “ by the 3” play in the steering wheel , what can I do to correct this ? Also when a semi passes me , I’m really working hard at keeping the motor home secure or going straight , what can I do to correct this ?

The option we offer to help tighten the steering is the Roadmaster Reflex Steering Stabilizer part # M-RBK24-RSSC which will also help return the steering to center. This will be the most beneficial component for reducing play. In regards to instability while trucks pass or with gusts of wind, this can be minimized by using SumoSprings which are a very popular upgrade for these motorhomes and highly regarded. The correct SumoSprings Custom Helper Springs are part # SSF-106-47 for front and part # SSR-106-47-1 for rear.
If you really wanted to go all out helping to tighten and improve the suspension as much as possible, I would also add the Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar part # RM-1139-147 which is one of the most noticeable improvements you can make.
Please note, wheel alignments won't take out play in the steering in most cases.
