Which Adapter Used for Installation of Tekonsha P3 on 2014 Toyota Tacoma
Question:
I bought a Tekonsha p3 part number 90195. My 2014 Toyota Tacoma has a trailer brake jumper harness with five wire. The Tekonsha only has four wires. I can not find any pictures of which wire goes to which wire. Both the Tekonsha and trailer brake jumper have vague instructions. On the Toyota I have these instructions: Black-red: Fused trailer brake controller battery feed Green: headlamp switch to vehicle trail lamps Green-white: vehicle stop lamp switch to brake controller input Brown: trailer ground Red: trailer electric brake feed from brake controller output Tekonsha instruction: Black: battery + Red: stoplight White Ground - Blue: Brake Lastly, what do I do with the extra wire? Thank you for your time.

There is actually an adapter harness # 3040-P designed for this purpose that we recommend using when installing the Tekonsha P3 # 90195 on your 2014 Toyota Tacoma, which will eliminate the need to cut into the wiring on your vehicle.
With that said, if you're going to hard wire, you can just cap off the tail lamp wire since you shouldn't need that during installation. From there, you'll use the following wires:
Red- Stop Light Switch
Blue- Brake Line
Black- 12v Power
White- Ground
