Are the Roadmaster XL Base Plates Compatible with the Falcon 2 Tow Bar on a 1999 Kia Sportage
Question:
I have a roadmaster falcon II tow bar, will this unit work with it, and how long does a shop normally take to install this on a 1999 Kia Sportage?

The Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit, # 2104-1, will work with your Falcon 2 tow bar as long as it still has the quick disconnect base assembly. This is the crossbar that runs from one arm of the tow bar to the other. The lower brackets from the base assembly will bolt to the Roadmaster XL base plates and provide an attachment point for the base assembly of the Falcon 2 tow bar. Roadmaster states that the average dealer install time for this item should be approximately 3 hours, but that could vary depending on the dealer.
If you no longer have the quick disconnect base assembly, then you will also want to pick up part # 910021-00. A few other items that you may want to pick up, if you do not already have, to complete your flat towing set up are a lighting kit, safety cables and a supplemental braking system.
The easiest light kit to set up and use are the magnetic light kits like part # RM-2120 and for safety cables, I would recommend part # RM-643.
Most states now require braking systems to be used in towed vehicles. I would recommend checking the local laws and regulations to see if you will need a supplemental braking system where you will be traveling. If you do need a system, then I would recommend the Roadmaster Even Brake, # RM-9400. This is a proportional braking system that will apply the brakes in the tow vehicle with the same intensity as the tow vehicle.
I have attached product links to each of the products that I have mentioned.
