Replacement ST175/80-13 Trailer Tire for a 2006 Scamp 16 Travel Trailer

Question:

Greetings, We currently have the factory installed Goodyear Marathon ST175/80R13 tires on our travel trailer. We purchased the trailer used last year and have been camping quite a bit with it since we purchased it. The tires appear to be in good shape but look like they are low in air pressure when we load up all of our stuff. When I check the air pressure in both tires they are good. Do you have a recommendation for a tire that will hold up better for us and dont look like they are low on air pressure when we put a load on them.

Any tire, when there is a load on it, will flatten out a little. The key with trailer tires is to always make sure they are inflated to the maximum psi rating as indicated on the tire. If the tires are holding pressure under load and they are not wearing then I would not go to new tires until needed.

When you do switch staying with radials will give you the best performance but you could also use bias ply tires like # AM1ST77 if you take the trailer off the beaten path frequently. I have included a link to our trailer tire FAQ article for you.
