5th Wheel Trailer Sits Nose High On Ram 3500 with Hitch At Lowest Setting

Question:

I have a 2018 Ram 3500 HD. I purchased the Bandw 5th wheel. My coach setting level in its stand is 48” to the pin box, my truck set 36” to the top of the bed. The lowest setting on the 5th wheel is 17”. By your calculations I need to set up at 12”, makes no sense to ?..?

In many cases, the trailer from the factory won't tow level with a new truck because they sit very high, especially when compared to earlier models. If you measure from the ground to the skid plate on the pin box while level this will need to be very close to the distance from the ground to the bed floor plus the hitch height. As mentioned, you can adjust the hitch head height as well as the pin box height but this is still not enough for most newer trucks therefore you'll need to lift the trailer for which the best option we have is the Tandem Axle Lift Kit part # RR23QX.
