P2 Trailer Brake Controller Shows 2 Dots that Never Go Away with Key Off and Removed
Question:
Two Blue Lights remain on all the time on the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller # 90885. This occurs after my truck is shut down and the key removed from the ignition. The two blue lights do not go out even hours afterwards. The unit is about two years old and has worked perfectly up until now. The only way I can extinguish the lights is to disconnect the elec. plug in the rear of the controller. I cannot find anything about this condition in the manual.

I spoke with my contact at Tekonsha and he stated that when the 2 blue dots occur and will not shut off you will need to reset the controller. What you will do is unplug the harness from the back of the controller and let it sit of at least 30 seconds and then plug it back in. When it is plugged back in it should flash NC for several seconds and then go back to the dots. After about 30 minutes the controller should power down and the dots should go away.
If they do not then the controller is thinking that something is drawing power. If the trailer is connected, disconnect it. Also check the connector for any dirt or corrosion in the plug and in the back where the wires attach. Check all of the wiring for the controller to make sure you have good connections.
If you do all of this and nothing helps then it indicates an internal error with the circuitry of the controller and it will need to be replaced.
