Best Affordable Bike Rack For A Single 50lb Bike

Question:

If the rack is rated 45# per bike and I only carry one 50# bike on the rack would this work? Also, can I load a bike on the outermost rack as it is hard to get into the rack against the car trunk or does that torque the rack? Thanks....sadly I do not have the budget for a Thule rack.

I do not recommend putting a 50lb bike on a rack that has a rating of 45lbs per bike. I do not recommend going over the weight capacity of the rack regardless if you're only filling one spot on the rack. If you were to do this it could result in the rack failing especially if you put the bike on the farthest spot away from the vehicle.

If you plan on hauling only one bike with the Thule EasyFold XT 2 E-Bike Platform Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # TH903202, I suggest mounting your bike closest to your vehicle. If you only need to haul one bike and you're working with a smaller budget, I suggest getting the Thule T1 Bike Platform Rack for 1-1/4" Hitches - Wheel Mount - Tilting Item # TH9041 because it is rated for 60lbs, it will be easier to load and be easier on your budget.
