Replacement Elictric Trailer Jack for my Trailer

Question:

I bought a Stromberg Carlson 4000 pound trailer jack model number JET - 4000NG. My son accidentally lowered the trailer to the jacks maximum it couldnt retract any further. He ran the motor a while. Now the jack only works when the weight of the trailer is on it. To get it all the way up for towing, you have to use the hand crank and to lower it raise the trailer to remove the trailer from the hitch, you also have to use the hand crank. I believe I bought the jack as a guest I didnt create an account. Is there a repair for this? Also, are there jacks that prevent you from over-retracting or over-extending to prevent this damage?

Most jacks like the JET-4000NG use a clutch designed to protect the motor and gear from damage when this happens. I think in this case maybe it went too far. There are no replacements for those components for the clutch mechanism. For a replacement use the Electric Jack w/ Footplate part # EJ-3520-WBX I really like these jacks and think that with proper use there will be years of great service to keep you out and running.
