Can 12 Inch Hub Drums for Electric Brakes Be Used With Hydraulic Brake Assemblies
Question:
My trailer currently has ALKO 12K elec drum brakes. Would I be able to convert to hydraulic drum brakes by switching backing plate assy on my axle but still use drum, bearings,etc from the electric brake setup? If so what would you recommend for the backing plate assy needed? Thx

If they're still in serviceable condition, you can indeed continue to use your existing hub/drums.
Assuming you have a 5 bolt brake flange, and the inside diameter and depth of your existing brake drums is 12-1/4 inches and 3-1/2 inches respectively, the Dexter # K23-524-00-2 would work perfectly.
