Can Trash Can be Placed in Front of Atwood RV Carbon Monoxide and Propane Gas Detector
Question:
I like the unit which will be a replacement for another brand. I have two questions. Since the unit has a memory for installation dates, will removing power during storage increase its useful lifespan of 7 years? The other question relates to my wife locating a portable trash can in front of the existing units location. Do these kind of obstacles interfere with operation or effectiveness?

The Atwood RV Carbon Monoxide and Propane Gas Detector # AT36681 can be located behind a trash can, but I would make sure that your trash can isn't right up against the detector.
I'm not sure how the 7 year rating is decided, but RVers tend to all have the same type of routine and so I'm pretty sure Atwood came up with that rating with the masses in mind as opposed to the handful of people who are full time RVers. So basically I'd count on this lasting for 7 years and then if it lasts longer then it lasts longer.
