Replacement Check Valve for When Replacing Dometic Water Heater

Question:

I am replacing my Motorhomes 10 gal Dometic hot water heater and when I remove the old/existing check valve looks like Valterra Check Valve for RV Fresh Water Systems - # P23415LFVP to mount it on my new water heater a spring fellow out. How does the white stopper with rubber o-ring and spring go back into the brass check valve and screw into the new hot water heater? Or do I need a new check valve?

You'll want to replace the check valve with the part # P23415LFVP if the internal components of what you have now are coming out.
