Troubleshooting a Factory 7-Way on a 2004 Chevy Silverado
Question:
can you tell me what to look for please. I have a 04 silverado 1500 extended cab and the factory 7 pin connector is not working. I have power to the + and - pins black and red wires and the left blinker / stop are working but nothing else, there is a block where all the connectors are connected to under the box near the bumper. Could the problem be in this as the lights work on the truck but not in the 7 pin connector. Thanks for any help

The first thing I would check is for corrosion on the back of the factory 7-way that is on your 2004 Chevy Silverado. If you find any clean it off as necessary.
Other than corrosion the problem could be a cut or exposed wire somewhere that is causing the circuit to short out. I would recommend you use a circuit tester like our # PTW2993 to test the wires going into the 7-way and then further up the circuits until you find the correct voltage. This will narrow down where the problem lies.
If you get up to the block you referenced and the voltage is not coming out of it, yet your taillights are still working then it would seem that the block is the problem.
