Difference in Capacities in the Fixed and Adjustable B&W Ball Mounts

Why is the tow rating 6,000lbs more on this ball than the row andstow ball with the same size shank?

Expert Reply:
The B&W 2-5/16" Hitch Ball part # BWHB94050 was designed to be connected directly to a ball mount like the B&W Heavy-Duty Ball Mount part # BWBMHD30214. When connecting these directly with zero give or flex they create a stronger connection point than what the B&W Tow & Stow 3-Ball Mount part # BWTS20049B has. The connection point in which the three ball combo rotates just isn't s substantial as what the fixed ball is.
