Which Reese Lube Plate for 16K 5th Wheel Hitch

Question:

Can I use a 12 inch lube plate on my 16,000lb hitch or is it a problem if I dont use a 10 inch?

Generally speaking, the higher the hitch capacity, the larger the 5th wheel head would be. The 12 inch diameter lube plate is designed for hitches with the larger head, like 18, 20 and 22K capacity hitches.

The only reason the larger lube plate is not recommended for a 16K hitch is that the plate would likely extend beyond the skid plate, which would make it susceptible to breakage. I would recommend using the 10 inch diameter plate, part # RP83002. The 10 inch diameter plate would better fit the skid plate of your hitch.
