Replacement Hinge for a Sears X-Cargo Sport 20 Cargo Box

Question:

Which hinge, TH14933 or TH14936 has the longer reach when extended? I have an X-Cargo Sport 20 Cargo Box I purchased at Sears that has the same kind of hinge. When extended, the hinge is 10 inches. I would like another two inches or so to lift the top up farther for better access to the front of the cargo box. The cargo box is mounted on a small trailer I pull behind my motorcycle.

I spoke with my contact at Thule and was informed that for the Sears branded Sport 20-SV cargo box you would need to use hinge # TH14936. My contact also stated that both hinges should be changed at the same time for best performance. I have linked a video review of the hinge for you.

But we have recently been told that on that particular box you should use # TH14933 which has a spring with less tension making the box easier to close. Otherwise both hinges are the exact same size and shape.

Is there anywhere I can find instructions for actually removing and installing the hinge on the xcargo? I have the same model but it's not really clear how to get the hinges off in the first place. I'm assuming I leave the riveted part of the hinge in tact and only replace the black plastic piece

You'll actually just pop the hinges off of the riveted tabs. Check out the video I linked below which shows the whole process.
