Platform Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2009 Nissan Xterra to Carry a Day 6 DreamE Electric Bike

Question:

I would like to get your opinion on the best platform racks to transport my Day 6 DreamE. The Day 6 DreamE electric bike is a pedal forward semi-recumbant comfort bike. It weighs 50 lbs or 62 lbs with the battery. I intend to transport it without the battery attached to the bike. It has a step through frame. I have fenders on the bike. May also transport a road type bike with it on occasion. Although my primary vehicle is the Xterra, I may also use the rack with a 2002 Suzuki Vitara or a 2000 Toyota Tundra if it would fit. All vehicles have 2 inch hitches. Thanks in advance

I would recommend going with the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider, # HR1000Z, for your Day 6 DreamE electric bicycle, as long as the wheel base on the DreamE is not longer than 60 inches. I did a bit of research and could not come up with a definite number for your bikes wheel base, but I believe it is somewhere around 51 or 52 inches. When using this rack you will need to remove the battery because the rack is rated for 2 bikes at 50 lbs each.

You will also need a bike adapter bar, like the Yakima Tube Top Bike Adapter Bar, part # Y02531, to span the distance between the handle bar neck and the seat post so the bike can be properly secured with the frame hooks.

This bike rack should work nicely on all of the vehicles you mentioned, and is also compatible with vehicles that have Class I and Class II hitches.
