Recommended Mobile Wireless Brake Controller for 2020 Ford Explorer
Question:
Ive new 2020 Ford Explorer capable of towing a 5500 pound trailer. Id like to rent a travel trailer. What temporary break controller - electrical wiring connections would I need to install to safely tow that trailer? I understand that there are wireless braking sensitive remote systems available? Having a difficult time with Ford. Had the tow hitch installed and a 7 way wiring installed but thats as far as I got. Would appreciate you advice

There is a wireless brake controller which you can call "temporary" because it does not install in your 2020 Ford Explorer's cab, it simply mounts in the 7-way; that brake controller is the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller # C51180.
The Echo is the easiest brake controller on the market to use and install because it is controlled with an app on your smartphone, a device that you're already comfortable using so there is not going to be any unfamiliar hardware or poorly-written manual to keep poring over simply to use your controller. The Echo will simply plug into the 7-way on the back of your Explorer with absolutely no additional wiring necessary.
This is a proportional brake controller which responds to the deceleration of your truck for smooth braking. I have added a link to a video review as well of the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller # C51180.
