Do Any Trunk-Mounted Bike Racks for 2018 Ford Explorer Hold 4 Bikes

I notice that your recommended bike rack for a 2018 Ford Explorer without a hitch receiver is the Yakima Fullback Truck mount which appears to accommodate a max of 3 bikes. Are you aware of any trunk racks for this vehicle that would carry four bikes? Thank you very much.

All trunk-mounted bike racks have a capacity that is limited to 3 bikes, not only for your 2018 Ford Explorer, but for all vehicles. That is because 4 bikes would stress the attachment points of the rack to greater degree, so the weight needs to be limited. If you are looking for a trunk-mounted rack the best option for your 2018 Ford Explorer is the Yakima FullBack 3-Bike Rack # Y02633.

Otherwise, if you require a way to carry 4 bikes you will need a hitch and hitch-mounted bike rack; for a hitch the best option is the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76034.

Then for a 4-bike rack I recommend the Swagman Titan 4-Bike Rack # S63410.

I really like this rack because it is a great value, providing you a stable way to carry your bikes at a cost that is much less than a platform rack. It even has a cable lock built into it to secure your bikes to the rack, which is something that doesn't come with most racks until getting to a much higher price point.

Just note that if you plan on carrying kids' bikes or bikes with a step-through or alternative frame you will need to give the bikes a horizontal mounting point by using an adapter, the Bike Frame Adapter Bar # HRBA-PRO.
