Will the Battery Isolation Solenoid Use Fuse or Circuit Breaker In-Line?

Question:

I have a 2013 Ford Escape and want to hook up a Battery Isolaton solenoid to charge a T@B trailer battery. Should I use a fuse in line with the installation? Where do I hook up the ignition sensor? Thanks for your help.

The Battery Isolation Solenoid # PK5231201 will keep the trailer battery from continuing to draw power from the vehicle battery when connected. The power is only transferred when 12V power is active on the center post with the 12v sticker. You can use any power source like the running light circuit to allow power to flow. I recommend using a circuit breaker like # PK54540 on that wire.

Another option is to use a disconnect like the Epicord Battery Disconnect Switch with Key - 50 Amp # 277-000096 on the trailer side.
