SUP Carrier Recommendation for a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek with OEM Roof Rack

Question:

Will this rack work for a SUP? I already have this rack for my kayak. I was looking to purchase a second to be able to carry either option of another kayak or SUP. I often go out with friends that have both. I am thoroughly pleased with this rack, and I would like to use this for SUP and alternate with a friends kayak. 2019 Subaru Crosstrek

The etrailer J-Style Kayak Carrier # e98878 (or any J-Style carrier) is only designed to carry a kayak. For a SUP you need a carrier that sits flat to keep your board from getting damaged.

For your application you should be able to use the 21-1/2" Rhino-Rack SUP and Surfboard Pads w/ Tie-Downs for Crossbars # RRRWP03 instead. This is just a simple set of pads and tie-downs to secure your SUP.
