Will Bikes With Fenders Work on Curt C18085 Platform 2-Bike Rack
Question:
I have a 2014 Toyota Tacoma. The bike rack would be hitch-mounted using a 2inch hitch. I am interested in the Sport Rider because of the tilt option. I have 1 mens bike and 1 womens Townie. The Townie has a front and rear fender. Can I use the Sport Rider with both types of bikes and, if so, which models would work?

Expert Reply:
Because the Curt 2 Bike Platform Rack # C18085 holds the bikes by the bottom of the wheels and the frame top tube, the fact that the women's bike has a fender will not affect the fit to the rack in the slightest. If the women's bike has a step through frame, you might find it easier to use a frame adapter bar like part # HRBA-PRO. The adapter bar spans the distance between the seat post and the handlebar gooseneck, providing a level surface for the racks bike retention hook to grab onto. This particular rack would actually work perfectly for you.
The rack includes a locking hitch pin, and the hooks are lockable, so the bikes will be secured to the rack and the rack secured to the vehicle.
I'll link you to a product demonstration video so you can see how the Curt rack works as well as to a description video about the frame adapter I mentioned.
