Replacement SuperLatch for Yakima Skybox Carbonite Roof Top Cargo Box

Question:

i borrowed a cargo box couple years old, i am guessing from a friend. it may have been overloaded, but the handle did not release the lock. i may have pulled too hard on it, and now the handle just spins, it will not unlock. the other side works fine. i took it to a local retailer that sells these types of boxes, and he said a little plastic pin sheared off, and the entire box needs to be replaced. that seemed a little excessive for a little piece of plastic. i see you sell replacement handles in pairs, will that fix my situation? i did look inside the box, but it seems there is a plastic housing accessed from the inside that is not able to be removed to inspect further. i would like very much to not have to buy a new box for a dumb mistake. thanks for your time!

The Replacement SuperLatch Handle Assemblies for Yakima SkyBox Rooftop Cargo Boxes - Qty 2 # Y8880348 is the latch replacement so as long as the piece plastic pin was part of the handle it will work as a replacement. I recommend unlocking the core on the handle and using a control key like # Y8007835 to remove the core and then you can use a needle nose pliers to move the latch to open that side for easy removal of the handle assembly. If you can't unlock the core to remove it you will need to very carefully drill it out making sure your don't drill too far and damage any other parts.

These replacement latches come with the new lock core and keys.
