Replacing 3,500 lb Tandem Axles with 5,200 lb Axles

Question:

I have a 2001 Sunnybrook 24CKFS with original 3500LB Dexter Axles. I want to upgrade to 5200LB Dexter Axles with E-Z-Lube. The leaf springs are 26inch eye to eye and the Spring center is 66 3/4inch to 70 1/2. Current tires are ST225/75R15. Im looking at replacing the existing rims and tires with new same size Hub is 6 on 5 1/5. Additionally, I was looking at double eye springs which are 6 leaves verses my 3 rated at 3000 lb...is this the correct sizing for a 5200LB axle? Thanks

The Dexter Trailer Axle w/ Electric Brakes - E-Z Lube - 6 on 5-1/2 Bolt Pattern - 86-1/2" - 5.2K # 8327816-EB will not work for your spring locations and are also too long for your application. My recommendation is to use the Timbren Axle-Less Suspension - Spindle Only - Regular Tires - 5200 lbs # ASR5200S01 which will attach directly to your frame, and includes the suspension you need. This integrated suspension with replace your leaf springs. You will then use a 2 inch square tube not included in the integrated holes of the assemblies.

You will use # AKEBRK-7-SA for your trailer brake assemblies and # 8-201-5UC3 for the hub/drums. Then you can use the wheel # AM20539 or similar as a replacement with your ST225/75R15 tires.
