Recommended Replacement Hitch Pin for Softride Dura with Cross-Threaded and Broken Bolt

Question:

I have a Softride Dura 4 rack, 2inch hitch. The hitch bolt got cross-threaded, the anti-rattle mechanism then broke, and then got stuck, making it so I could not remove the rack from the car. I had to cut the bolt. Softride does not have the replacement part, and no longer makes the rack. The Dura only has a hole in one side of the sleeve. Do you have any suggestions on a replacement part that I could use, without having to drill a hole in the other side of the sleeve? Thanks

Expert Reply:

Because the shank of your bike rack has been crossthreaded, I recommend drilling both sides out and then using the Softride Stainless Steel Locking, Anti-Rattle Threaded Hitch Pin for 2" Trailer Hitches # SR25219 to give you the correct fit and replacement parts you need for the anti-rattle and lock.

They only make the single side anti-rattle for the 1-1/4 inch shank now with part # SR19696.
