How To Choose Between a 12VDC and 120VAC Ceiling Fan for a Trailer

Question:

We bought the 05 Jayco Eagle 325BHS a few years ago and would like to add a ceiling fan. It seems that this was an option offered originally on this model but was not installed in ours. There is a small button on the ceiling marking the area of the ceiling where it would be mounted. The breaker/fuse panel has items marked as ceiling fan and there appears to be wire already run for a switch to the wall and, assuming, in the ceiling. So my question is on what voltage of fan I should be installing? There is a 120V breaker and a 12V fuse that both reference ceiling fan. See attached photo. I can tell where the wires terminate at the panel which it is connected to. Any information you can offer would be great.

In regards to ceiling fans, we only have 12VDC options like part # 324-000053, however you can still find some 120v options at other retailers. The best one for you will come down to how you use the trailer. If you are primarily using the trailer at campgrounds where you have shore power then go with the 120VAC but if you use the trailer primarily for boondocking then go with the 12VDC.

If you are trying to determine what voltage the wires you have found are, AC uses single strand and will have three wires, and DC uses multi-strand and will have 2 wires.
