This is due to the integrated cable lock of the Gateway Pro as well as the arms being slightly closer together for smaller frame bikes as well as more space between the bikes. I recommend getting the Thule Passive Security Strap for Trunk Mounted Bike Carriers # TH533 to secure the rack to your vehicle.
